MEET AJ.
I'm your current Putnam County Commissioner, a retired military officer, a healthcare professional, and a proud citizen of the United States.

AJ is currently an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Tennessee Tech University, residing in Putnam County with his wife Nancy and children Trinity and Logan.

Enlisting the day he turned 17, AJ spent 24 years on active service duty for our nation in the U.S. Navy, starting his career as an enlisted Cryptologic Technician and working to earn the rank of Lieutenant Commander in the Nurse Corps. AJ retired from active duty service in July 2012.

COMMISSIONER
As County Commissioner, AJ shows up.
He's missed only one meeting in the four years since his election.
​
He currently serves as the Chair of the Nominating Committee; he has also served on the Naming Committee for the new Park View School in his 7th district and as Vice Chair for the Putnam County Redistricting Committee.
​
As county commissioner, AJ's priorities are to keep taxes low, increase education opportunities, and ensure that the County's funds are appropriated wisely.
COMMUNITY
AJ routinely serves his community in a number of positions. Currently, he's the Vice President of Independence Again of Cookeville, a board member for Blood Assurance of Cookeville, and the 3rd Vice Chair for AMVETS Post 44.

.AJ and his wife Nancy are passionate about animal rescue, and help foster countless rescue dogs for AARF, a local animal rescue organization.
In addition, AJ previously served as the assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 156 of Cookeville, TN and helped Cane Creek Elementary Daisy and Brownie Troop 946 earn their "Democracy" Badge.
